Makyala came home from Kindergarten today oozing all sorts of new information.
Makayla: " Mom..do you know that Darbrock..Obrock Dobomma..Boodrock..Obramma....whatever his name is, our new President ended slavery? A long time ago a bunch of bad people went to Africa and put a bunch of brown people on boats and brought them back and made them be their slaves and then there was a big fight and one of our presidents was assassinated because he helped to end slavery too.?
Me: "oh..what was that presidents name?"
Makayla: " George W. Bush"...."so now Obrock Dabomma is making history because there has never been a president like him before."
Me: " Wow...you learned (well, kinda) quite a bit today didn't you"
Makayla: "Not really, we just played a lot."
She may have gotten a few of her facts wrong..and was very tongue tied over his name..but Makayla came home very charged up about the new presidency. I couldn't help but to laugh out loud during parts of her story. It doesn't matter who you voted for to know that this is an historic election..and I'm hoping that Makayla will remember the significance of it all as she gets older.
