Exciting News!

We are very excited to announce that we are buying our first House!!! We have a condo that we bought 5 years ago and we are now in the process of selling it so that we can move into an adorable little rambler! The most exciting detail about the house......it has a huge backyard. Tiny bedrooms, but a huge backyard. We couldn't be more excited, stressed, relieved, and a little anxious. There is the excitement of the new house, the stress of selling the old house, the relief of more space, and the anxiousness that comes with trying to find new appliances for the new home.

It has been a roller coaster. We loved it...then we had a multiple offer situation and had to see if we won. We did. Then the inspection was less than agreeable and we had to ask the sellers to do a bunch of work. ie: new roof etc.... Much to my surprise, they said OK. Then I had mentioned that we needed to shop for new appliances and it looks like that is going to be taken care of too! It's just been an amazing adventure. I'm sure the stress isn't entirely over...but I feel good about it for now!

Sorry no pictures. Our "dial up Internet" is worse than snail mail when it comes to uploading photos. Maybe when I'm feeling more patient I'll put some up!

Snow Day!

Ok, so it's been a little while since our last blog, but that's because not a whole lot has happened since then. We have been getting back into our routine! Preschool, work, etc...so same ol same ol, until last night. It totally snowed! By totally snowed in Seattle I mean that we got like 2 inches and some Ice...and the whole Greater Seattle Area has decided to close down. It's quite hilarious. Consequently Makayla didn't have preschool today so we bundled up and drove over (I have 4 wheel drive) to St. Edwards State Park to play in the snow! I thought it was a Great Idea. First we tried to go down the hill in an inner tube we use during the summer, but that didn't work, so I thought we could use the lid to our cooler ~ but that didn't work either. The girls ran around a little, picked up snow, and kicked it around a bit, and decided it was time to go home. With their hair blowing in their eyes and snot running down their face, we trekked back to the car. When we were all in the car and buckled in I said, "wasn't that fun girls!" I was excited to hear their reply and was surprised to hear a unanimous, "No!" I decided it was a good time for a little Starbucks :) On the way there Makayla said, "mom I've decided something." "Snow is really pretty, but I think it's too cold to play in. I like it, but it's just no fun at all." I thought that was a pretty sweet thing for a 4-year-old to decipher on her own. We came home, made cocoa for the girls, and they wrapped up in their new bathrobes from Papa and Grammy and watched a show. Even though we missed out on a day of preschool, and maybe some errands to be run, I've decided there is something precious about discovering new things with my girls. Snow is not new to me, and the girls have been in the snow a few times, but the adventure of it all is always new when I'm experiencing it through a 2 and 4-year-olds perspective!

Christmas with the Vicks

So...here is my first blog ever...well, actually my second. I tried this earlier today and I accidentally deleted it and I was to cranky to try again at that particular moment, so I took a little break and I'm trying again.

So we spent Christmas down in K-falls with my parents, my brother, and his fiance Tiffany. We had a great time. We ate and ate and ate :) it was wonderful. I got the privilege of watching tiff try on wedding dresses and I know what her dress looks like :) (don't worry, I won't tell anyone)

I got to see some of my old friends from high school and it was really great to catch up with them and see what they are up to. It does make me feel a little bit OLD when we get together and realize that people we babysat are now graduating from high school and stuff. That's the not so fun part. ;0

Christmas was really fun this year. I mean it's great every year but it seemed especially event full this year for a few reasons. 1~ Our power was out for the entire week leading up to Christmas due to a severe storm up in this area. Because of that we stayed with friends for 6 of the 7 nights we were without lights and heat. It was a little exhausting packing up our stuff and keeping track of it and trying to get the girls to settle down in a different place, but we had so much fun with our friends that we stayed with that it seemed a little like a vacation. (Until we went home and found that our fridge had melted out onto our kitchen floor) :) We are so thankful for those friends who took us in and put up with the craziness of it all.

So do to the Power outage I was unable to bake my normal supply of Christmas goodies :( There is always next year.

Makayla had a really great time with Christmas. I think she was a little confused though. She didn't understand why she didn't receive a gift at every house we visited during the Christmas season. I think she thought, Hey, they have a tree....there should be a present for me under there then. It's hard to explain the workings of Christmas gifts to a 4 year old. Makaylawas very sad when we undecorated the house, (well, sad for like a minute) :)

That's pretty much our Christmas experience. Not the most thrilling blog in the world, but I'm still learning. Some more sleep and a little more adventure and this will be up and running ;)
