Yesterday afternoon our 4-year-old brought something to our attention. "Mommy, I haven't seen chody in a while." Chody is the name of our one-year-old gold fish. He was Gold with black and white flecks. Very pretty, and to be honest, we thought Chody would last longer than Tracy. Dj and I were like, "ya, we haven't seen him in a while, but he must be there because he's not floating." We gave it some time, then with great caution I started to examine the tank, and sure enough, the intuition of a 4-year-old was confirmed. Chody, degrading rapidly, was wedged between the decorative rock and the glass. Literally, between a rock and a hard place. I waited until the girls went to bed before I cleaned him out and sanitized the tank. Makayla asked if Chody was in heaven. We said yes. Although, how can we really know the condition of Chody's heart! All we know is that he had been baptized in water :) (just kidding) Makayla showed real concern for Tracy (the one left behind) and wondered if she was going to be sad without Chody. It was pretty cute. But now they are over it.
I wonder sometimes if parents over react because we anticipate the reaction we THINK our child is going to have. Makayla wasn't as sad about Chody as she was for Tracy being alone. I was surprised by that.
I've spared you the pictures of chody's demise. I decided that maybe a dead fish on the blog wouldn't be the best addition. :)
Have a great day, and remember....just because it's not floating........doesn't mean it's not dead!

Baptised in water... ha, ha, ha! I love the lesson learned and Mak's thoughts about the fish. It's great to see her compassion for the fishy left alone - thanks for sharing it. :)

I was so sad to see chody go....yet, I wanted him out of the tank so bad. It was totally gross :) I would have captured moments of it on film if....I didn't have a Craptastic Camera :)
Where is my Photogropher???
